CCMIJU

The Jesús Usón Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre (CCMIJU) is a public and multidisciplinary institution devoted to research, innovation, training and technology transfer in the field of Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) and health care. The aim of CCMIJU is to improve the quality of healthcare delivered to patients, by providing surgeons and other health professionals with innovative solutions and training.

The different research teams working in the CCMIJU’s areas participate in competitive calls at different levels. All these projects have a common denominator, which is an eminently translational perspective, in which we endeavour to bring the tested therapy as close as possible to the clinical setting, conducting the research under stringent ethical and quality assurance guidelines.

CCMIJU, with funding of €529,000, plays a pivotal role in the TEN4CARE project by leading Work Package 9 (WP9), dedicated to the preclinical validation of novel biomaterials and medical devices.

Leveraging its state-of-the-art facilities and long-standing expertise in translational research, CCMIJU is responsible for designing and conducting comprehensive in vivo studies that will assess the safety, biocompatibility, and therapeutic performance of the innovative 4D scaffolds and minimally invasive surgical approaches developed within TEN4CARE.

Beyond its leadership in WP9, CCMIJU contributes to the definition of surgical protocols, the integration of advanced imaging and histological techniques, and the monitoring of tissue regeneration and functional recovery. Its work ensures that the project’s breakthroughs are validated under clinically relevant conditions, providing solid evidence to support the future translation of these therapies to human healthcare.

Through its leadership and transversal contributions, CCMIJU guarantees that TEN4CARE innovations progress from laboratory concepts to safe, effective, and patient-centered therapeutic solutions.
